July 2013 Campaign Bulletin: Hearing From You

July 2013: Hearing From You

As the race moves into July, my team and I are meeting community members across the Upper East Side and Roosevelt Island – and it’s the best part of this race. Always feel free to email me at
Benatkallosforcouncil [dot] com (Benatkallosforcouncil [dot] com) or call (212) 960-3440. I look forward to hearing from you.

Successful Petitioning

Our month of petitioning was a great success, and we got the signatures needed to get on the ballot – and thousands more. The team had countless conversations about good government, strong social services, opposing the 91st St. trash dump and much more. Thank you for ensuring my place on the ballot on September 10.

Campaign HQ Grand Opening

We celebrated the grand opening of the campaign headquarters at 86th and York with enthusiastic members of the community and campaign volunteers. The campaign office launch packed some real heat as we move closer to the election. Thanks to all who attended!

Fight Corruption

I was disappointed to
read about the same old pay-to-play politics from my opponent in this race. I’ve spent my career fighting corruption, including putting voting records of statewide officials online for all to see. I’ll continue to advocate for transparent government when I’m in City Hall. Help us fight Albany pay-to-play corruption by donating to the campaign today.

Supporting Our Seniors

With NYCHA facing budget cuts, senior health centers in the Stanley Isaacs and Holmes Towers are in jeopardy. Our campaign
offered testimony before the City Council Committee on Senior Housing, urging them to contribute to the costs of keeping senior centers open to promote healthy, independent lives for our aging population.

Rallying for Students

Students represent the future of our city, and we must invest in them. I was proud to rally with MoveOn.org to prevent Congress from doubling student interest rates. That’s why I wrote an Op-Ed for Our Town arguing that if we invest in our students today, we’ll create a thriving city tomorrow.
