Silent March to End Stop and Frisk
Submitted by kallos on Sat, 06/23/2012 - 12:00am

In 2011, NYPD officers conducted 685,724 street stops, a more than 600 percent increase since 2002, with more than 4 million people stopped since then. Black and Latino males between the ages of 14-24 accounted for percent 4.7% of population, and 41.6% of the stops in 2011. The number of stops of young black men exceeded the entire city population of young black men.
On Father’s Day, Sunday, June 17, I joined my fellow members of Community Board 8 Manhattan as well as thousands in a silent march to end stop and frisk and racial profiling. You can learn more at http://silentmarchnyc.org/
